This morning we had a fabulous coffee morning in support of MacMillan Cancer Support.
Students and teachers organised the event, with year 11 student and School Council member Casey-Leigh leading the way. The event had amazing support and we were joined by parents and carers and local residents in a great community fund raiser.
In addition to selling lots of cake and tea, all made by students and staff, one of our Year 11 students, Brandon, ‘Braved the Shave’ showing great commitment to a worthy cause and raising over £200 in the process – he even managed to rope one of the staff, Mr Clarke in to joining him in a last push to raise some extra pennies for MacMillan. A big thank you to our amazing hairdresser Leanne Lewis of Trimtastic too! Anybody wanting to boost Brandon’s total can still do so via this link.
After a raffle and auction, which saw an amazing £50 bid for one cake and £45 for another all that was left was to tidy up and count the pennies. Whilst we await the final sponsorship to come in for a total, we already know that between the school and Brandon we raised over £900!
‘What an amazing community based event to raise money for a very worthy cause. The children and staff have worked really hard to make the morning such a success and it was amazing to have members of the local community join us also’ said Acting Head Teacher Debbie Payne, ‘We would like to thank all of those involved for their amazing efforts in raising so much money!’
