Do you have an eye for design? Are you the next big designer?

If so, can you create a new online safety logo for Safer Internet Day 2017?

Safer Internet Day will be on 7 February 2017 and we have a new challenge for learners in Wales.

We are calling on learners to take part in our Safer Internet Day competition to create a new logo for online safety in Wales.

We invite all teachers to lead conversations with learners about what online safety and a better internet means to them. Following the discussion we’d like your learners to create a logo to represent online safety in Wales.

The winning logo will go live on Hwb on Safer Internet Day – it will become the new logo for Hwb’s online safety zone! We will unveil the winning logo at our official Safer Internet Day event in Wales on the 7th February and we hope that the logo will become a recognisable emblem of positive and creative use of the internet, used in future online safety resources and initiatives.

Who can enter?

The competition is open to all learners aged between 4 – 18 in Wales. Schools/organisations can enter a maximum of 5 entries.

Entries will be judged on two criteria – concept and design. Any text used in the logo should be bilingual.

A panel of judges will be selected to review and select the winning entry.

More about Safer Internet Day

Safer Internet Day (SID) is organised globally by the joint Insafe/INHOPE network, with the support of the European Commission, each February to promote the safe and positive use of digital technology, especially among children and young people. Celebrated on the second day of the second week of the second month, each year on Safer Internet Day thousands of people unite to raise awareness of online safety issues and participate in events and activities right across the globe. In 2017 the slogan for the day will be: Be the change: unite for a better internet! In 2016, Welsh Government in partnership with UK Safer Internet Centre coordinators, SWGfL, ran an app competition for schools in Wales and the winning primary and secondary apps were launched online on the day.
